• FEEDING OF THE EELS:

Unique to the De Jager farmstead where the Stilbaai Tourism bureau is accommodated, is the pond, fed by a natural fountain, in which indigenous fresh-water eels have been living over generations. The eels are fed daily:

PLEASURE CRUISE

Enjoy a scenic cruise (approx 2.5 hours) on the Goukou River, including a 30 min stop to enjoy swimming, snacking or just relaxing.

INVERROCHE DISTILLERY:

Inverroche distillery is located just outside stilbaai, where they offer a unique and fascinating experience for visitors. They hold several gins tastings and distillery tours daily and introduce visitors to there 3 elegant fynbos gins made according to traditional recipes with the additional infusion of aromatic and piquant fynbos botanicals which adds to their cemplexity and unique taste.

The classic flavours of citrus, spices and juniper berry are present but top and undertones of fynbos add to and complement the character of the spirit. The recipes took three years to perfect and the gins were launched late last year. Packed in elegant French glass, they are double or triple distilled in a 1000 litre custommade copper potstill an small vintage batches of 250 bottles. • ARCHAEOLOGY:

For people interested in Archaeology, Stilbaai has much to offer. The fish traps found along the coast are living examples of ancient technology, have been afforded National Monument status and were declared a Restricted Zone within the Stilbaai Marine Protected Area. Together with the shell middens found along the coast, as well as the Blombos cave, these are visible evidence of the Later Stone Age. Well worth a visit is the Blombos Museum of Archaeology which is accommodated in the Stilbaai Tourism Bureau in the historic De Jager farmstead, “Die Palinggat” in Stilbaai. Visiting hours:
